Tomorrow I’m joining WAVE 3 news anchor Dawne Gee and morning show host George Lindsey of WXMA 102.3 FM to speak with the University of Louisville’s Communication Student Group, I-Comm. I’ll be talking for 15 minutes about online journalism before joining Gee and Lindsey for a panel discussion and question-and-answer session.
The event is March 9, 6:30–7:30 p.m. in the Chao Auditorium located in the basement level of the Eckstrom Library (near the Speed Art Museum). It is open to the public. For more information, visit I-Comm’s website.
It’s encouraging to see UofL taking online journalism so seriously and including someone with experience in that field: Gee and Lindsey are media icons ’round these parts (Gee, in fact, was the local alt weekly’s 2010 Louisvillian of the Year). I suspect they’ll be telling students how difficult it is to break into TV and radio, whereas I’ll be talking about how easy it is to get into online journalism, but damn hard to make money at it.
