Search engine optimization (SEO)
Outcome and vision
Every website should strive to be in the top 10 results when a user searches on Google for the keywords relevant to that site.
Actions
1. Analyze keywords
Based on your input, product, website, competitors’ websites, and logs of visitors to your website (if available), I will determine the keywords that will draw relevant traffic to your site.
2. Revise the site
I will suggest changes to the text on the home page to incorporate the keywords from step 1. I also will write metadata tags for the site (code not usually visible to website visitors but vital to search engine optimization). These changes will be easy to implement (about one hour of effort from your webmaster; if you do not have a webmaster, I can make the changes).
3. Submit the site to search engines and directories
I will submit your site to approximately 30 search engines. While most Internet users rely on Google, Yahoo!, and Windows Live for their searches, those search engines index other search engines and directories. Hence, submitting to lesser-known sites will improve your standings with the big three. I will follow up with those search engines and directories to ensure that your website is added.
4. Create links to the home page
These links are not necessarily ones that people will use to access your site directly, but the search engines will value them as quality links. Consequently your site’s standing will increase in search results. Furthermore I will analyze what sites link to your competitors’ sites and request that they link to your site as well.
