My first magazine appearance, from 1994, makes the Internet: A letter to the editor in Sports Illustrated
I just discovered my first magazine appearance has made it to the Internet–a letter to the editor in Sports Illustrated’s Nov. 7, 1994 issue in response to an article it’d published about UNC women’s soccer team’s winning streak:
During the past 23 years the Reading (Mass.) Memorial High boys’ track team has been undefeated in dual meets, putting together a 206-0-1 record.
ZACH EVERSON, Winston-Salem, N.C.
What a beautiful sentence! Even cooler, the letter led to Sports Illustrated publishing an article on my old high school track team and its coach (and the best teacher I ever had), Hal Croft.
