Examining the impact of anglers and the sportfishing industry
In celebration of its 75th year, the American Sportfishing Association (ASA) hired me to write a four-part series about its history for American Sportfishing.
The first installment just appeared in the June/July 2008 issue (pp. 8-17; I also edited the rest of the newsletter). This issue featured sections on the association’s history and that of the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST), the world’s largest sportfishing trade show.
Subsequent issues will feature ASA’s impact on
- conservation
- encouraging people to fish
- the business of sportfishing
- environmental legislation
One of the most intesting aspects of the research was discovering all of the conservation work that anglers perform.
